Church History

"...from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."  ~Ephesians  4:16

Freedom Christian Church was planted and guided by the Holy Spirit. From July of 2011, five couples began to pray for God's intervention and direction for the difficult situation Pastor Eric and his wife Julie were experiencing at the time.  And, at the beginning of 2012, it was quite apparent that God was birthing a new ministry.  In January of 2012 people began to meet in a small room at the Municipal Auditorium, mostly made up of the members of a Bible study led by Pastor Eric and his wife Julie in his previous ministry.  From this beginning "Freedom Christian Church" came into being.

In a very short time the new Ministry doubled in size, under the leadership of Pastor Want, and needed a larger place to meet. In March 2012 the fellowship moved to the Sarasota Realtor’s Association headquarters on Tuttle Avenue. Freedom continued to grow adding regular Wednesday night prayer meetings, a children’s Sunday school for children, and a Sunday school for our youth.

In June of 2012 the Freedom Christian Church charter became official and our dedication service was held, as we welcomed our charter members. Shortly after, a search began to find a larger facility because attendance had grown to close to one hundred. In November the decision was made to move to larger facilities. In December 2012 Freedom Christian Church held its first service in it’s new home in the Fellowship Hall on the campus of Beneva Christian Church. Sharing the same campus with a Church of another denomination is a great experiment, but is blessed by God because both seek to honor the Lord through evangelism, outreach and worship.

We continue to pray that our Church continues to grow through preaching and teaching the word of God, discipleship, outreach and love. We will always follow the path the Lord leads. Jesus Christ is the leader of our Church and as we follow his direction we will always have the Freedom to reach people for Him.
